Why programming, then? 🤔

To get straight to the point, the singularity; if you've not heard of that then you should at least be aware of it - movies like iRobot showcase this. It's essentially a point in time where technological growth becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, that'll result in unfathomable changes to human civilisation. This means that we - as a human race - are not going to understand the changes.

I know... it sounds a bit far fetched when you first mention it, but looking at the technology growth we've had over the last 10, 20, 30 years its phenomenal. Going from the computers that took us to the moon to having super computers in our pockets in 50 years... an iPhone 5s has 1300x more processing power than the computer that landed Apollo 11 on the moon.

🚀 Elon Musk, CEO SpaceX, Tesla & The Boring Company, claims AI will overtake humans 'in less than five years'. So before 2025 we could have a more advanced AI than we can comprehend. It was pegged that Ray Kurzweil gave the year 2045 for computer, robotics and AI. My goal is to understand AI & Machine Learning, in any capacity, before that happens.

My plan with learning programming, looking into C++ first. I'll be using free resources like w3schools.com to get me into the swing of things. With a target of at least an hour a day with the assumption that I'll be in the flow and go longer.

Going to be using this blog as an outlet - an outlet for not only the things I learn but to share what is going well or... not so well... 🤔
